It's Bath Time! The Downside to Infrequent Bathing & What to Do

It is essential to keep your dog clean and healthy in order to avoid potential health issues. Not washing a dog, especially one with thick fur or long hair, can lead to a number of negative and harmful effects. Dirty ears are particularly prone to infection from accumulations of dirt, yeast, and bacteria. If left unchecked, this can cause severe pain, redness, and discharge. Paw pads and nails are also vulnerable to dirt and bacteria build up. Not washing them regularly can lead to painful infections or even more serious complications like sores or abscesses.

Regularly washing your dog with a gentle shampoo that includes calendula extract, Centella asiatica extract, and colloidal oatmeal can help to prevent many of these negative effects. These ingredients have anti-bacterial properties which help to keep your dog’s skin healthy and free from irritation and infection. They also help to reduce inflammation and redness caused by dry skin.

Dogs with long fur often suffer from a condition called ‘matt’, where their fur becomes tangled and matted. This can cause painful skin irritation and discomfort, as well as trapping dirt and bacteria against the skin. Not washing your dog regularly can further exacerbate this problem. Dogs with short fur are still prone to a build-up of bacteria on their skin which can lead to inflammation, rashes, and bacterial infections.

Regularly washing your dog is beneficial in helping to keep them healthy, comfortable, and happy! A clean and well-groomed dog will be happier and more likely to stay healthy for longer.

So don't forget to give your pup a thorough wash down every 3-6 weeks to keep your pup healthy, happy, and clean!
